Let forum chatter help guide you. People post in forums and groups and open up about their experiences, their setbacks, and their desires. You can find out what the majority of people are searching for information on.

Use keyword tools to see what the most popular topics are in your niche. Then drill down and see exactly what people want to know about it. If you type in “how to lose weight” in a keyword tool, you’ll see that people want to know how to do that and gain muscle, how to lose weight after pregnancy, how to lose it specifically in their belly, and more. 

Those specific drilled down topics can help you with research that will need to go into your info product creation. You can also survey your audience. If you have a list, send them a survey to complete – and if you don’t have one – ask around on social networks using polls to see what people have to say. 

Buy some books, watch videos and listen to podcasts. All of these resources can help educate you and give you inspiration on what to cover in your own info product. Make sure you never copy what someone else says – just use the basic idea of what’s being discussed for your own outline. 

Read comments on blogs or social network posts and see what consumers are saying about reviews of other books about the same topic. There’s a bunch of information lurking in these areas that’s easily available to you without you having to wait and get feedback from anyone.

These are usually short, bite-sized bits of information, around 10 minutes or less. But some marketers choose to do lengthy videos at 45 minutes or more per lesson. You have to understand what your audience needs and work from there. 

Another seller are podcast shows that are private, paid products. There are many consumers who prefer to absorb information while multitasking, whether they’re doing lawn work or commuting to a 9-5 job. 

You can even do a hybrid product creation. Some people will create a video course with modules but they will also turn the transcripts of those videos into PDF presentations that can be downloaded.

This is the best way to serve the needs of a wider audience. So look at the kind of information you want to teach your niche audience and then see what most vendors sell to them.

It could be that they’re selling it because that’s the audience preference, but it could also be as simple as the fact that they just haven’t made an effort to present the information in a new way – something you could do to forge a new path in your niche. 

Don’t be intimidated about learning a new method of serving your audience information. If all you’ve ever done is text, you might hesitate to do video, but taking a course or looking up tips on how to do it, when paired with a little practice, will be all you need to make the leap to a multilayered approach.

ClickBank is another place where info products are sold. Here, you the ability to recruit tons of affiliates to promote for you. They accept a wide variety of niche topics and you can sell different media formats. 

Warrior Plus is a good place to list your info products, especially if you’re in the online marketing niche. You’ll find both customers and affiliates shopping for information in this niche here, and you can build entire funnels rather than just have the one item for sale.

Thinkific is an easy drag and drop platform that you can use to teach people whatever topic you want in a variety of niche markets. There are many like this and the others – you just have to look around for what you need. 

There are a few things you want to look for in a product release platform. The first is ease of use. Not just for yourself, when setting up the course, but for your customers, too. 

You also want something that aligns with whatever payment processor you want to use. For example, if you want to use Stripe and PayPal, then make sure that platform allows for both. 

Check out the fees or upfront costs for using the platform. Some will have a flat rate fee plus a percentage of every sale. Some will only take a portion of the sale once the customer checks out. 

You also want to make sure your course abides by the rules set forth by the product platform. Some may have rules about claims you can make, or force you to add a disclaimer of their choosing.

Use a strategic launch process to get your product onto the marketplace. If possible, list your product on affiliate sites or groups about a month before it goes live. You want to give your affiliates time to review it and create their own promotions for it – including bonuses, if applicable.

From your JV page, begin building a list of affiliates. Some people neglect to take this step, only thinking about list building in terms of customers. But each affiliate has the potential to send countless sales, so it’s important that you can speak to them in an email anytime, too.
